UNO School of Communication Election Night Blog site

Welcome to the School of Communication Election Night Blog site! This site is designed to offer the campus and Omaha area community election news reported and edited by journalism students enrolled in our Public Affairs Reporting, Critical Writing for the Mass Media and News Editing classes during the fall 2008 semester. This blog will take the form of an on-line newspaper and adhere to the highest ethical and professional standards of journalism. Students will write pre-election and election night stories. Content will include such topics as how gender and religion play a role in the presidential election and how candidates are targeting their messages to reach college students and senior citizens.

On Election Day, student reporters and photographers will work in the field filing spot news and feature stories , and student editors will edit their stories before sending them to a team of faculty editors for final editing and posting. Arts and Sciences Hall Room 112 will serve as our news room from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Election Night.

We are excited about this opportunity to offer our students hands-on journalism experience to build their portfolios and engage in the community in this historic 2008 election.
